FULL VIEW!!

My first ever weapon.
Spent 2 evenings on it. Maybe a total of 10 hours or so.

I was heavily inspired by this image [link]

I followed this tutorial [link] - it introduced me to SPLINES :p

Im planning to do a big scene that revovles around this sword.

Software: Cinema 4D R12
Render time: between 3-10 mins per image.

I think I should have increased render quality to get rid of the grain and blur in some areas of the images.

OH... and the environment and lighting is from a preset studio from GreyscaleGorilla.[link]

Check out my other 3D art [link]

I remember R12 coming with stock HDRI images in the content browser. Add an HDRI material to a large sphere that surrounds your scene and turn on Global Illumination. The render time will be ridiculous but it'll make your reflections and lighting look fantastic.

i never thought of that, but that will be a new thing for me to learn.

Thanks :) I'll look into it :)

I'm an avid C4D user (since R10)
Check out my gallery for some examples of my work.

What system are you working on?

I work on a 2009 Macbook Pro and our specs are pretty similar. Mac architecture is a little different so it lets me get some more juice out of mine, though (I was a dedicated windows user for a LOOONG time). But your machine is absolutely fine for Cinema 4D just as long as you're willing to sometimes wait two hours on a render, when you have things like depth of field and global illumination going.

(my studio may be getting funding soon so I'm looking into the Mac Pro workstation systems and I'm hoping to get a network renderer going. lol. 654 Ghz processing sounds nice. xD)

If you ever have any questions about C4D, just note me
